I thought I'd open up my blogging account by analysing and recommending a few blogs i've been following recently. Although they aren't directly related to my own blog, they're all interesting in their own right and well worth a look.
Penelope Trunk Blog (blog.penelopetrunk.com)
Penelope Trunk is a co-founder of Brazen Careerist, a career
management tool for next-generation professionals. Her career advice runs in
200 newspapers and this strong level of experience shines through in this
well-presented personal blog. Trunk manages to combine smart, honest advice
with her own personal (and sometimes controversial) opinions whilst maintaining
an easily digestible style of writing. Trunk’s widely acclaimed advice combined
with a simple yet aesthetically pleasing web-layout makes this blog a must read
for anyone seeking to further their career.
Formula 1 Blog (formula1blog.com)
Possibly the best un-official source
for all of the latest Formula One news, Formula 1 Blog mixes the headlines with
topical debates to create an extremely informative webpage. With a healthy mix
of high-quality images and a great choice of colour scheme this blog is
extremely easy to navigate with all of the content being well written and
simple to digest. As well as the latest news stories, Formula 1 Blog allows you
to engage in discussions spanning the entire history of Formula One allowing
you to really get involved in one of the most illustrious sports of all time.
The Daily Muse (thedailymuse.blog.co.uk)
This is a simple but interesting
webpage which epitomises the everyday value of non-specific blogging. Choosing
to write about whatever they want whenever they want, the author uses facts and
personal opinions to produce humorous and informative posts. Although the page
layout is quite basic, it ultimately contributes to the blog’s charm with a
good use of pictures to help illustrate the writer’s points.
EQ Music Blog (www.eqmusicblog.com)
The EQ Music Blog is a great way to
keep up with the popular music scene and a decent place to start looking for new
music. An attractive but not distracting background behind a simple linear text
layout makes the blog easy to navigate and its content easy to digest. The page
features loads of easy ways to find music through a range of popular social
networking sights like Facebook and Twitter whilst avoiding too much
advertisement and general clutter. As a result this informative blog is easy to
navigate and well worth a look.
Sporty Blog (sportyblog.com)
As basic as they come but thoroughly
enjoyable, this sport blog features one man’s opinions of the sporting
headlines posted as discussions for everyone to engage with. By rarely
including pictures or any design whatsoever, Sporty Blog lets you get on with
the job of reading what the author has to say without being distracted by any
needless images. Although opinionated the author manages to avoid becoming
biased and this coupled with the easy-to-digest page layout makes Sporty Blog a
genuinely good read.
